About
Our 19x125mm Untreated Rebated Shiplap Cladding provides an attractive, traditional timber finish for sheds, summerhouses, garden rooms, workshops, garages and other timber buildings. Manufactured from softwood, these boards feature a smooth planed surface and a distinctive rebated shiplap profile, making them suitable for new construction, refurbishment projects and replacing existing timber cladding.
Each board features specially machined overlapping edges, allowing adjoining boards to sit neatly together and create a consistent horizontal weatherboard appearance. Unlike tongue-and-groove cladding, rebated shiplap uses overlapping rebates to help shed rainwater away from the building when correctly installed. The nominal 19x125mm section typically finishes at approximately 14.5x119mm, although actual dimensions and effective cover widths can vary between manufacturers.
Supplied untreated, the timber retains its natural softwood colour, grain and knots, making it ideal for customers who wish to apply their own preservative, paint, stain or other protective finish. For external applications, an appropriate preservative treatment and exterior finishing system should be applied in accordance with the treatment manufacturer's recommendations. Untreated softwood should not be left exposed to prolonged wet conditions without suitable protection.
These boards are generally installed horizontally onto suitable timber battens or framework, with the rebated edges overlapping to create a traditional shiplap finish. Appropriate fixings, ventilation, drainage and allowance for natural timber movement are important for long-term performance.
Actual finished dimensions, machining profiles, effective cover widths and timber appearance may vary between manufacturers and suppliers. If you need to match existing timber cladding, please contact us before ordering to confirm compatibility.
