Our 2 Ex 32x175mm Black Painted Sawn Featheredge Cladding provides a distinctive, traditional timber weatherboarding finish for barns, stables, workshops, garages, sheds, agricultural buildings, garden rooms and other timber structures. Manufactured from softwood, these boards feature a tapered featheredge profile and a rough-sawn surface, finished in black for a striking appearance inspired by traditional agricultural and barn-style cladding.

Each board is produced by diagonally cutting a nominal 32x175mm timber section into two tapered featheredge boards. This typically creates a finished thickness of approximately 24mm at the thick edge, reducing to around 6mm at the thin edge. The substantial section provides a pronounced overlapping weatherboard appearance, making it particularly suitable for larger buildings, barn conversions and projects where a traditional black timber exterior is desired.

The black painted surface provides a consistent, dark appearance while allowing the natural timber grain, knots and rough-sawn texture to remain visible. Depending on the manufacturer, the boards may also receive an underlying preservative treatment to help protect against fungal decay and insect attack. The coating specification, level of protection and maintenance requirements can vary between suppliers and should be confirmed where particular performance standards are required.

Designed primarily for horizontal installation, featheredge boards overlap to help direct rainwater away from the building. They should be fixed to suitable timber battens or framework using corrosion-resistant fixings, with appropriate ventilation, drainage and overlap to support long-term performance. Any exposed cut ends and damaged coating should be treated or recoated in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
