Our 38 x 38mm 3.6m sawn and treated softwood timber battens are a versatile choice for a range of general construction, fencing, landscaping and garden projects. With a square 38 x 38mm cross-section and a 3.6 metre length, these treated timber battens are suitable for applications such as lightweight timber framework, garden trellis construction, fence panel repairs, timber screening and general-purpose battening.

Manufactured from sawn softwood, these 38mm square timber battens have a natural rough-sawn finish with square edges. The preservative treatment helps protect the timber against fungal decay, making it useful for applications where treated wood is required. Suitability for outdoor exposure depends on the preservative treatment Use Class, installation conditions and intended application.

The 3.6m length provides flexibility for projects requiring longer continuous battens or multiple shorter sections cut to size. These softwood battens can be cut, drilled and fixed using suitable woodworking tools and appropriate fixings. For outdoor installations, use corrosion-resistant fixings compatible with preservative-treated timber and apply a suitable end-grain preservative to freshly cut ends.

As timber is a natural material, variations in colour, grain, knots and surface texture should be expected. Minor dimensional changes may also occur as the timber adjusts to surrounding moisture conditions. These battens are not supplied as structurally graded timber and should not be used for load-bearing applications requiring a specified strength grade or as certified roofing battens.
